She does the following:

Take blood, give advice on a healthy lifestyle, test urine, measure blood pressure, height and weight, carry out health checks, wound dressing, vaccinations such as b12, pneumococcal and flu vaccination.

She may act as chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Clinical Pharmacist

  • Radhika Mehta (f)
  • Nour Shakir (f)

In a GP practice, a clinical pharmacist plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by managing medication therapy, conducting medication reviews, and providing expert advice on drug interactions and side effects. They collaborate closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals to optimise treatment plans, ensuring that patients receive safe and effective medications tailored to their individual health needs. Additionally, clinical pharmacists often engage in patient education, helping individuals understand their prescriptions and promoting adherence to treatment regimens. This integrated approach not only improves health outcomes but also alleviates the burden on general practitioners, allowing them to focus on more complex patient care.

Health Visitors

The health visitor does not run any clinics at our surgery. but works closely with our doctors. She works mainly with the under-fives and their parents. She advises about health care and helps with other problems, both at Elers road clinic and at home.  She can also provide specialist help on behaviour or specific developmental issues. She runs a  Child Health Clinic at Elers Road Clinic.

Community Midwives

The midwife runs regular clinics at the Childrens Centre and will contact you soon after antenatal booking.

Community Nurses

The district nurses visit patients at home who are unable to come to the surgery due to illness or disability.  They provide nursing care and help, advice and support to patients and their carers. At present a referral needs to be made by the practice in order to access this service. We may also refer patients who need more advanced care at home for short periods of time to a Community Matron or a Rapid Response nursing service.
